Washington's Birthday is coming up soon (February 22), and I realized I don't know a whole lot about George Washington. Yeah, I know cherry tree, throwing money across the river, wooden teeth, and Father of His Country but not much else. So I did a little research and found out among other things, he was TOTALLY awesome as a military strategist. Want proof? Try this: "Historians debate whether or not Washington preferred a Fabian strategy to harass the British, with quick shark attacks..." Shark attacks! That would be so cool! (I did more research about the Fabian strategy. I thought it involved blaring insipid 1950's pop to demoralize the troops, but that wasn't it.)
Okay, I'm guessing that George did not employ sharks to attack British troops, but that's what Wikipedia says. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_washington) No kidding. The lesson? Verify the validity of your sources. You can start by clicking on the "Databases and Research" tab at the top of the Sno-Isle home page. Trusted sources, verified by real librarians.
But I know I'm gonna think of the music from "Jaws" come this February 22nd...
